I fully and foolishly expected that I'd be able to get a good night's sleep after yesterday's run. I was certainly tired enough, and ready for bed at about 9:15, but made myself stay up until 10. Why, I don't know.
Ended up not falling asleep until almost midnight, then waking up shortly after 3. Usually I can fall asleep again after 2-3 hours, but not this time. I tried hard to sleep in, but ended up getting up late for breakfast, then almost immediately going back to bed for a nap.
So that pretty much ended my dreams of running again today. Also, I'm having a big flare-up of ITB syndrome on my left knee that the foam roller is not shifting. Instead I settled for a 2.5 mile walk over to Wanstead and back again. Ho hum.

Janathon: Day 8
Today I went for a walk with my husband, and we ended up combining it with a loathed short trip to Tesco, to feed my ever-increasing craving needs. (Recently it's been spaghetti "bolognese" and garlic bread. And nachos. And funfetti. We're doing the first two.)
Anyway, while we were in Tesco I felt the return of some of the lovely nausea I experienced 24 hours a day for 3-4 days at the end of December. So, we went home and I went to bed, thinking that our little walk would have to do for Janathon today.
I slept for a few hours, as did the cat curled up next to me. (That's such a great feeling. I imagine napping with the baby will be like that, times about a million.) And then I got up and had a granola bar and some fruit and read some blogs. People running in snow. People running in extreme heat. People getting babysitters so they could run. And I thought, dammit, I'm getting out there. Never mind that it's almost dark, never mind the nausea, never mind that my good sports bras are all dirty and the only one left is that one I shouldn't really be using anymore.
So I got ready, stuck some Polos in my pocket against feeling sick, and went out for a little 20-minute trot. And it felt good. Until I stopped and thought my boobs were on fire. Maybe I should go bra shopping.
In summation:
Distance: 2.01
Time: 19:37
Pace: 9:45
Weather: cool and gray
Me: feeling good; had to stop twice to fix my stupid hair and once to let some ambulances turn, but I felt like I didn't need those stops, whereas sometimes I'm thanking the universe for them. Also used some old shoes rather than the newish ones and proved conclusively (article in Science forthcoming) that the newish shoes with their gargantuan inserts were causing a yucky pain up the inside of my right ankle. Win!

Janathon: Day 7
Short and sweet today. I did yoga. That's all.
Feeling pretty meh, which seems to be a trend in the blogs.

Janathon: Day 6
I looove rainy days. It's one of London's saving graces for me. (Yes, I know I'm weird.) But I don't really love running in them. I'm more of a curl up with a book kinda rainy day girl.
So, all in all, my feelings were kinda mixed about all the rain today. But when my normal workout time (an hour after lunch) came around it was pouring down buckets, so I decided to do an extra-long indoors workout today instead of a run. Of course, by the time I finished working out, the rain had pretty much stopped. Oh well. If I had procrastinated I might not have done anything at all, right?
So here's the summary:
45-minute workout (2 videos: kick-boxing and low-impact aerobics)
I felt good, but got tired a little faster than I expected. Also, I ate waaaay too much at lunch, so that was interesting. And I think baby preferred the more dance-based one over the kick-boxing. Baby's gotta dance!
In weird craving news, all I can think about is eating funfetti cake with funfetti icing. Not even something I normally like, but now I'm seriously considering buying some from a UK site at some hyper-inflated price. Baby apparently likes parties, though, because dance + funfetti = party time!

Janathon: Day 5
I slept last night!!! Hooray! At least 8 hours, no less. Unbelievable.
But I was still feeling pretty run-down today, so I decided to take it a little easy with another walk today. 1.5 miles in the chill around the neighborhood.
But reading everyone else's Janathon accomplishments is making me feel a bit guilty, so it's back on the running bandwagon with me tomorrow!

Janathon: Day 4
Insomnia has only gotten worse, and I just hope I'm now so exhausted that I'll sleep no matter what tonight. Everything I've read about treating insomnia has said to get out and exercise, but I just couldn't muster the energy to run today.
So I walked, only about 20 minutes, but nice and brisk. About a mile.
And if things go well overnight, I'll do a real run tomorrow!
Note: I wrote this yesterday, but forgot to hit publish. Grrr.

Janathon: Day 3
Before I begin: does anyone know the url for the Janathon blogroll? I tried to find it yesterday and couldn't, which is probably because my brain is currently in my belly. So if anyone can let me know in the comments, it would be most appreciated!
Anyway, here we go:
A very sleepy day. Again.
But since this is one of the few times in my life when a nap will be about as healthy as a run, I took a little 30-minute snooze. Which turned into a several hour snooze. Whoops.
But... it's okay. It's all good. I just did 20 minutes of prenatal yoga, and I think I'll have a quick snack break and do some more. (Edit: I did go back and do another 15 minutes.)
Plus, I took a look in the mirror this afternoon, and I seem to have de-bloated some. Hurrah! This is probably partially due to my diet being ridiculously better than normal. I'm usually a major sweet tooth, but yesterday we finally had to put the remainder of the Christmas cookies in the freezer because the thought of sweets makes me want to hurl. But in a totally ladylike way, of course.
I also have no doubt that the recent increase in physical activity has helped, too. And, don't get me wrong here. I'm not trying to lose weight. I'd just prefer to put off looking like I'm 3 months pregnant until I'm actually 3 months pregnant.
Janathon, Day 3:
Prenatal yoga at home, 20 minutes (+15 minutes)
p.s. I just realized that people have been commenting on the blog for, like, three weeks. Forgot to set up email notification of comments. I'll try to respond individually from now on, but for now here's a blanket thanks for stopping by and sorry for being such an unresponsive turd!
